I don't know if I would say that they are friends, because they are both too crazy to trust each other. They try to be friends, but it is hard because Deborah's Gods are offended by her trust in other people.
i think they culod be friends and if they weren't sick they definitly could be but i think they both just want to find a way out of this place first. they don't want to get stuck with eachother and put eachother down. but they could put each other up which could get them both out.
Going with what Kelsey said, I think that they could be reluctant to make real friends because, deep down, they know that they are going to leave one day. It would be too hard to make a friend and have to leave them still sick in the hospital.
but would it help? i mean couldn't making friends show themselfs that they can be normal and be able to live out in the world? i think deborah should be friends with carla so maybe she could be stuck to earth and not Yr.
I totally agree that they should be friends, but if you have part of you brain telling you that it's wrong and dangerous to be friends it would be hard to go against your better judgment to make a friend.
their brains are why they are in the hospital in the first place. If the brains weren't screwed up then they wouldn't be in the hospital, and they would never have met!
they seem to help eachother when they are in the ward but outside i think deborah starts to see she is hurting carla. they are friends outside the ward but now deborah sees what she does and how it effects people and carla in a way is helping deborah learn that. they are always going to learning off eachother.
